I was Facebook fasting for a couple of months prior to announcing my private practice. A facebook fast for me includes taking a break from facebook to recenter myself on yes, you guessed it, MYSELF. It's a whole mood. It's amazing how quickly you can regain peace when you take away the LIKE button. Now don't stop reading here because I realize that FB is entertaining, connecting, and informative. All the things I generally like in an activity. However it is also overwhelming, overstimulating, and addicting (it's been researched).

When I decided to return to FB to announce my business, I was immediately reconnected with the outer hemispheres of my world (Is that another space reference? #Nerd). And some anxiety crept back in based on public visibility alone. I like to fly under the radar. Just in case you wondered this is not flying under the radar and it makes uncomfortable. Because if I fail, it is witnessed by my world........

Let's do some reality testing. There will always be judgement, both publicly and privately. But keep reading because there is a secret: What you say to yourself is much worse than anything anyone could ever say about you. We call that self talk in the therapy biz (your welcome..no copay needed). Why does self talk matter? Because we believe it to be true.

I might fail very publicly and that would suck. But that thought wont stop me from trying because I also know I am strong, dependable, and hardworking. See how I challenged that negative thought myself.

So how do we move from being fearful of public scrutiny to doing the things we love out loud...WE TRY ANYWAY! I have got this and so do you!
